Designed to become one of the first buildings in New York City to be LEED-certified Platinum, this structure is a paradigm of "green" building, drawing part of its energy from solar and geothermal sources. Three working roofs incorporate photovoltaic panels and aid in rainwater harvest. A wing-like canopy joins the administrative building with an adjacent auditorium. Both structures are suffused with ample natural light and ventilation, making the facility as friendly to the staff and visitors of the Garden as it is to the environment. City-Owned Institution.
