A collaborative effort between two celebrated architects, the Theatre for a New Audience will share a site with the Mark Morris Dance Center, across from the new Visual and Performing Arts Library. A major addition to the BAM cultural district, the building will be sheathed in titanium with an undulating canopy along one façade and a glass curtain wall allowing views of the grand staircase and four-story Shakespeare portrait mural created by the graphic designer Milton Glaser along the other. The interior performance space, while tailored to the needs of classical theater, will be flexible enough to accommodate a variety of productions.
