The Lion House will be restored as the centerpiece of the Bronx Zoo's Astor Court and become the first New York City landmark certified "green". No longer deemed suitable for lions and other big cats, the building will be reconfigured for an exhibition about Madagascar, where the Wildlife Conservation Society is currently involved in the creation of national parks. The challenge for the designers was to make the architecture disappear on the interior, in order to create a sense of immersion within the artificial environment, while respecting the historic structure. City-Owned Institution.
